March Madness: 25 best players remaining in the NCAA Tournament
By Logan Butts
Jevon Carter – West Virginia
For my money, the most well-rounded player left in the tournament. Carter does it all for the Mountaineer, as he leads the team in points, assists, and steals, and is second in rebounds and blocks. He also may be the most important defender in the country.
Phil Cofer – Florida State
The Seminoles are the most surprising team in the Sweet 16 in my opinion. Some of the teams seeded lower than FSU were either trendy underdog picks (Loyola-Chicago) or tournament mainstays (Syracuse). Cofer is the senior leader of a well-balanced FSU squad.
Clayton Custer – Loyola-Chicago
I may be biased because I love point guards AND mid-majors, but Custer looks like a legit NBA prospect. The MVC Player of the Year drilled the game-winner against Tennessee and notched a rare clutch shot/wink combo toward the end of the game against Miami.
Tyler Davis – Texas A&M
One of two double-double threats for the massive Aggies, Davis has been the top performer so far in two strong wins for Texas A&M.
Carsen and Vince Edwards – Purdue
In senior Isaac Haas’ injury absence, the Edwards non-brothers stepped up to pull out a win over a formative Butler squad. They will have to continue to do so for the Boilermakers to make their first Sweet 16 since 2000.
