SR Kassius Robertson – Missouri Tigers

2017-18 stats: 16.3 ppg 3.0 rpg 2.3 apg

The biggest impact transfer of the season somehow came from the University of Canisus, a below average team from the MAAC. But his play this year shows why teams are so active in the transfer market.

At the beginning of the season, Robertson figured so be a solid role player, as Michael Porter Jr., his brother, and others lead Missouri back to the NCAA Tournament. But after the star freshman got hurt just minutes in the first game, the Tigers were written off when it came to an at-large bid.

But the grad transfer refused to allow that to happen. In what turned out to be a much improved SEC, Robertson led the team in scoring, with 11 games of at least 20 points. Even though he played in a much better league, his stats were basically the same.

This was a hard choice between Newman and Robertson. On one hand, the Jayhawk is the reason why they made the Final Four, while Missouri was a first-round exit. But even without him, Kansas was going to be in decent shape.

In my opinion, what Robertson did without the team’s best player all season warrants him the top spot. And it also proves why power conferences will be scouring the mid-major world for the next impact contributor.
