JR Caleb Martin – Nevada Wolf Pack

2017-18 stats: 18.8 ppg 5.4 rpg 2.6 apg

No coach utilizes the transfer market more than Nevada Head Coach Eric Musselman, and his pickups of the Martin brothers has solidified the Wolf Pack on top of the Mountain West Conference.

From the very first game, Caleb Martin has been the lead guy, with seven 20+ point games in the first seven contests of the season. The most impressive one was the 28 points against one of the best defenses in the country in Texas Tech.

Martin has a versatile offensive game, scoring both inside and out, as well as both on the break and in the halfcourt, after leading Nevada to another regular season title, the junior was awarded the Mountain West Player of the Year.

What was most impressive about the junior was that he was never 100% in terms of health this season. From the very beginning, Martin was dealing with a nagging foot injury, that never went away. Yet he played nearly every game, and still was able to score sometimes with ease.

His brother Cody deserves a shout out as well, as he played nearly as well as his twin brother. It’s not a guarantee, but if both of them return, Nevada is a Final Four contender as well as a preseason top-10 team.
