NCAA Women’s Basketball: Ranking the leading candidates for Final Four MOP

7. Jackie Young, Notre Dame

Young showed dramatic improvement this season over last year. The sophomore guard is averaging 14.7 points, the third most on the team, and has doled out 137 assists. She has scored in double figures on 28 occasions, including 10 games of 20+ points.

Young has really taken off in the NCAA Tournament. The All-ACC Honorable Mention selection is compiling 18.4 points, on 50.0% shooting, to go along with 9.6 rebounds and 4.0 during the tournament. She set a career-high with 32 points to go along with 11 rebounds in the overtime victory over UConn. It was her fifth double-double of the season.

6. Morgan William, Mississippi State

William became a household name after hitting the game-winner to defeat UConn in the national semifinals last year. The 5-foot-5 point guard, who tallied a career-high 41 points versus Baylor during the NCAA Tournament a year ago, is averaging just 8.2 points this year. However, the second team All-SEC selection has scored in double figures in six of her last seven contests and is producing 11.1 points a game during the tournament.

William has doled out 174 assists while committing only 45 turnovers this season. She holds the Miss State record with 654 career dimes and is 10th in the program’s history in scoring (1,394).
