March Madness: Ranking the leading candidates to win Final Four MOP
5. Donte DiVincenzo, Villanova
DiVincenzo has shown significant improvement this year after a solid freshman campaign. The Big East Sixth Man of the Year is excellent coming off the bench as he can do a little bit of everything. And he can score at all three levels.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore guard has had an impact on each of the games in the Tournament. He has scored in double figures in three of the five games and has collected eight boards in his last two contests. DiVincenzo contributed 15 points and seven rebounds along with three assists against Kansas.
For the season, DiVincenzo is averaging 13.0 points along with 4.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He is also shooting 47.3% from the field and 39.0% from beyond the arc.
4. Charles Matthews
Matthews, who transferred from Kentucky after one season, is the Wolverines most explosive scorer and perhaps the most athletically gifted. He is also strong defensively. The 6-foot-6 junior guard has scored in double figures on 31 occasions, including seven games of at least 20 points.
Matthews leads the Wolverines with 16.6 points a game during the NCAA Tournament. The 2018 West Regional MOP is the only player on the team to score in double figures in each of the five Tournament contests. He is coming off a 17-point performance, 7 of 12 shooting, against Loyola in the Final Four.
For the season, Matthews is averaging 13.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He is also shooting 49.9% from the field.
