9. Virginia Tech Hokies 21-12 (10-8)

2017-18 season results: NCAA Tournament First Round

Season Grade: B-

The Hokies did make the NCAA Tournament, but the season itself was a bit underwhelming. At times their offense was outstanding but towards the end of the season, they failed to reach 70 points.

Virginia Tech’s roster had plenty of experience, which made the team’s close losses all the more puzzling. It was still a good season, but the Hokies had more potential than they showed.

8. Miami Hurricanes 22-10 (11-7)

2017-18 postseason result: NCAA Tournament First Round

Season Grade: B-

The Hurricanes had a hot start to the season, climbing up as high as No. 6 in the AP Poll. They struggled some in conference play, before taking a fatal hit with the team’s best overall player Bruce Brown going down before the postseason.

This was a young, yet very talented Miami team. In reality, they may have peaked too soon in the non-conference and gave unrealistic expectations for the rest of the campaign.

7. NC State Wolfpack 21-12 (11-7)

2017-18 postseason result: NCAA Tournament First Round

Season Grade: B

The biggest turnaround from any ACC team this season, NC State was able to incorporate newcomers with the returning players perfectly for a successful campaign. Kevin Keatts had a great first year and gets a highly touted recruiting class to continue the program’s progress.
