Teams North Carolina should beat

at Wofford Terriers (Nov. 6)

2017-18 season record: 21-13 (11-7 in Southern Conference)

One of the biggest upsets from this past season was when Wofford came into the Dean Smith Center and upset the Tar Heels in late December. They were led by star guard Fletcher Magee, who scored a game-high 27 points in the 79-75 win.

He along with most of the Terriers will return, making them an even bigger threat. But with this being the first game of the season for North Carolina along with the revenge factor, they should return the favor.

at Elon Phoenix (Nov. 9)

2017-18 season record: 14-18 (6-12 in the Colonial Athletic Association)

Tyler Seibring and Dainan Swoope will be the senior seniors, bringing back a 27 ppg and 10 rpg average. Problem is they were one of the worst defensive teams in the country, so stopping the superior Tar Heels will be a tough task. But back-to-back road games will also be tough for UNC.

Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (Nov.16)

2017-18 season record: 19-14 (10-8 in Ohio Valley Conference)

This is more of a “buy game”, especially after losing all five double-digit scoring starters to graduation. The Golden Eagles could easily be the worst team in the Ohio Valley next season.

St. Francis (Pa.) Red Flash (Nov. 19)

2017-18 season record: 18-13 (12-6 in Northeast Conference)

Jaamal King and Keith Braxton will return, along with their combined 36 ppg average. With them along with everyone else returning, St. Francis could put a scare in the Tar Heels.

UNC Wilmington Seahawks (Dec. 5)

2017-18 season record: 11-21 (6-12 in Colonial Athletic Association)

They took a huge step back after losing their coach and key players, but expect one going forward with the return of their top three players, including the nation’s leading rebounder Devontae Cacok. He’ll need to have a 20-20 game for his team to have a chance.
