I’m still convinced that if Tony Carr returned next year that he’d win Big Ten Player of the Year. He was already considered one of the top point guards in the league. Carr would only be in competition with Cassius Winston and Anthony Cowan. The Nittany Lion would’ve been a junior and had the potential to take serious strides.

He still had a great college career at Happy Valley. The Penn State team during Carr’s freshman season was super young. They showed a lot of promise, but the team finished three games under .500. Penn State then won 26 games including an NIT Title because everyone returned hungry.

Carr was given complete control of the team and he did wonders with it. His assists went up a little, his points increased by six and his turnovers went down. This team won a lot of games because of the play by Carr. He looked like an upperclassman by the time the season ended.

The biggest difference between freshman Carr and sophomore Carr is that his total three-pointers made went up by a ton. He made a solid 33 last season. The Nittany Lion point guard made 88 during his sophomore season.

He’s got a great shot that can really help in the NBA. Professional basketball is all about scoring with not much defense. Carr wasn’t the best defender as a typical point guard with his caliber would be. So obviously he’ll enjoy shooting a lot of three-pointers which is continuing to improve. He also won’t be drafted to become a star right away either.
