NCAA Basketball: Top 10 graduating seniors who will be missed the most
9. Marcus Foster – Creighton Bluejays
2017-18 stats: 19.8 ppg 3.9 rpg 2.7 apg
Career stats (130 games) 16.7 ppg 3.1 rpg 2.4 apg
When Foster arrived at Kansas State his freshman season, he looked to become one of the best guards in the country by the time he left them. He started immediately, scoring 15.5 ppg while shooting 40% from three-point range.
Unfortunately, things went sour between Foster and head coach Bruce Weber. Attitude problems became his undoing and after a difficult sophomore season, he was dismissed from the team.
Many times situations like this can snowball for athletes into a sad downward spiral. But after being given a second-chance by Greg McDermott and sitting out a year, Foster turned it around completely. He excelled in the Bluejays offense and was a model citizen in both his final years.
The former Kansas State guard also handled from playing off the ball in his junior year to being the primary ball handler his senior season. And what better way for it all to come together for Foster than to play Weber and the Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament in what turned out to be his final college game.
He went from a problem child himself to a proud father of a child himself, and it’s helped him to become a better man, both on and off the court. It’s stories like his that make following these athletes worth wild.
