NCAA Basketball: Top 10 graduating seniors who will be missed the most
8. Chris Chiozza – Florida Gators
2017-18 stats: 11.1 ppg 4.3 rpg 6.1 apg
Career stats (139 games): 7.4 ppg 3.2 rpg 4.1 apg
While never destroying stat sheets, Chiozza was always a fun watch. He arguably was the fastest player on the court each time he went out there, yet somehow never losing control of both the ball and the game.
Interestingly enough, after starting half of his career games his first two seasons, Chiozza was relegated to the bench in favor of senior point guard Kasey Hill. But he still managed to make a nightly impact, in his 22 mpg. Of course, his biggest impact came in the NCAA Tournament, where his game-winning shot defeated the Wisconsin Badgers in the Sweet Sixteen in 2017.
He became a starter again in his final season, posting career-best numbers across the board. Chiozza led the SEC in assists per game while using his speed to steal two balls a game. The senior had another game-winner, this time in a win over Missouri.
After replacing two-time national champion head coach Billy Donovan, Mike White had an easier transition than most. That’s because of a guy like Chiozza, who not took new roles without issue, but continuing growing as a player. That’s how Florida continues to make the Big Dance.
