8. TCU Horned Frogs

2017-18 season record and seed: 21-12 (9-9) – No. 6 seed

In just year two under Jamie Dixon, TCU was able to snap the program’s two-decade-long drought of missing the Big Dance. They were led by a veteran-laden squad, including senior scorers Vladimir Brodziansky and Kenrich Williams.

Those two will depart, taking with them nearly 30 ppg and 15 rpg with them. Dixon has several underclassmen that are capable of keeping the Horned Frogs viable, but an unforgiving Big 12 may be the reason they’re a one-hit wonder when it comes to March.

7. Rhode Island Rams

2017-19 season record and seed: 26-8 (15-3) – No. 7 seed

The Rams took a huge hit on two fronts. First, they’ll be losing a great backcourt of E.C. Matthews and Jared Terrell, who provided the main scoring output for the team. In total five of the top eight contributors will be gone for next year, as well as the coach Dan Hurley, who decided to go to UConn.

But don’t count Rhode Island completely out, as they have some good talent remaining, as well as a quality recruiting class. There won’t be any juggernauts in the A-10 next season, so the Rams have a good shot at the auto bid if need be.
