6. Arkansas Razorbacks

2017-18 season record and seed: 23-12 (10-8) – No. 7 seed

This was supposed to be the No. 1 team on this list after the completion of the NCAA Tournament. They were going to lose their trio of senior perimeter players to graduation regardless but was also supposed to lose freshman Daniel Gafford to the NBA Draft.

But the projected lottery pick made the surprising decision to remain with the Razorbacks, giving head coach Mike Anderson hope that the team will remain viable in the tough SEC. Arkansas still has an uphill battle to climb, but with a ranked recruiting class coming in there’s still a chance for them to make another tournament appearance.

5. Wichita State Shockers

2017-18 season record and seed: 25-8 (14-4) – No. 4 seed

Out of the nine leading scorers from last year’s team, eight of them won’t be back next season. Six of them were graduating seniors, Landry Shamet is heading off to the NBA, while Austin Reaves is transferring. That leaves just a couple of role players left, along with a huge incoming class of recruits.

Normally, there would be no hope for the Shockers to make it back to the NCAA Tournament. But Gregg Marshall deserves the benefit of the doubt when it comes to developing under-the-radar recruits. That and an expected to be weak AAC could keep Wichita State in the conversation 10 months from now.
