8. Maryland Terrapins

2017-18 season result: 19-13 (8-10)

Youth and injuries prevented the Terrapins from making the Big Dance this past season, but the future does look bright as they get older and wiser. Even without sophomore Justin Jackson leaving for the NBA, five-star prospect Jalen Smith should be able to replace his production.

The concerns lie within the others who are in the NBA Draft. Wing Kevin Huerter should come back, but freshman center Bruno Fernando is much more up in the air. He has the tools to get drafted if he stays in, and Maryland won’t be able to replace him as easily. If everyone returns then things will be fine.

7. Washington Huskies

2017-18 season record: 21-13 (10-8)

First-year head coach Mike Hopkins was gifted with a talented roster when he arrived to Seattle. He was able to utilize their capabilities in a winning fashion, getting a couple of marquee wins in a solid campaign.

Everyone will come back, with four projected starters being upcoming seniors. It’s a season of tremendous consequences for next year, with the entire starting lineup likely to move on after 2018-19. If guard Jaylen Nowell somehow takes his game to another level alongside Noah Dickerson, then the Huskies have a real shot to contend for the conference crown.
