6. Marquette Golden Eagles

2017-18 season record: 21-14 (9-9)

It might sound weird to say this, but the Golden Eagles got an upgrade at the guard position this off-season. Despite averaging over 20 ppg and nearly 5.0 apg, Andrew Rowsey was a big liability on defense.

His replacement is grad transfer Joseph Chartouny, who is an outstanding defender and all-around guard. The former Fordham guard is still a capable scorer in his own right. The Golden Eagles hope that his defensive ability will help a lackluster team defense. With Sam Hauser’s top-50 younger brother recruit Joey coming in as well, head coach Steve Wojciechowski should have enough weapons to make it back to the Big Dance.

5. Central Florida Golden Knights

2017-18 season record: 19-13 (9-9)

They were projected to make the NCAA Tournament last season, but UCF only had the team’s top two player’s (BJ Davis and Tacko Fall) for a handful of games, with each having injuries throughout the year. They should both be back, along with Aubrey Dawkins, who missed the entire season.

The Golden Knights were one of the top scoring defenses, as well as one of the worst scoring offenses in all of college basketball. with healthy players and a little more balance on both ends of the court, this team should be one of, if not the best team in the AAC.
