NCAA Basketball: Where will Kentucky transfer Sacha Killeya-Jones end up?
Nevada Wolf Pack
Frontcourt players: None of note
2018 commits: No. 309 KJ Hymes, No. 394 Vincent Lee
The Wolf Pack frontcourt for next season will be very strong, but it won’t play into Killeya-Jone’s decision one way or another. That’s because all of the key players for the team will be seniors, leaving the door wide-open for an impact transfer to come in for the 2019-20 season.
Eric Musselman’s success with transfers has to be a huge selling point, and the Wildcat transfer could dominate a mid-major league in the same way Wiltjer did with Gonzaga. Nevada does tend to get the team’s targeted recruits, so watch out for them in this process.
Odds of going to Nevada: Decent, if the Mountain West isn’t a turn-off
Pittsburgh Panthers
Frontcourt players: JR Shamiel Stevenson, JR Terrell Brown
2018 commits: None
Of all the teams on this list, this one would be a near 100% guarantee of starter minutes for Killeya-Jones. The program is starting completely over under new head coach Jeff Capel, and there’s no big with anywhere near the talent that the transfer has.
Of course, if the NCAA Tournament is something Killeya-Jones enjoys, then Pittsburgh shouldn’t be the destination. They’re awhile away from truly competing for a bid. But maybe just getting on the court is all that he wants.
