10. Clinton Venable – Bowling Green State Falcons (1990-1991)
Career stats: 17.1 ppg 3.3 rpg 4.6 apg
A two-year player during Larranaga’s early days as a coach, Venable has an argument of being the best pure point guard who’s ever played for him. He led the team in both points and assists both years while ranking towards the top in the MAC as well.
9. Shane Larkin – Miami Hurricanes (2012-2016)
Career stats: 11.2 ppg 3.2 rpg 3.6 apg
In the year where Larranaga was awarded the National Coach of the Year Award, Larkin – along with a cast of senior players led the way. He averaged 14.5 ppg, 4.6 apg and a pair of steals in route to winning the ACC Player of the Year. It was a good enough campaign for him to leave for the NBA Draft after his sophomore season.
8. Jason Miskiri – George Mason Patriots (1998-1999)
Career stats: 15.8 ppg 4.4 rpg 4.1 apg
Part of the first group of players Larranaga had when he arrived at George Mason, Miskiri was one of the key players with no seniors on the roster. He led the team in both scoring and passing his junior year, and helped facilitate the rebound year where the Patriots ended up making the NCAA Tournament.
7. Jai Lewis – George Mason Patriots (2003-2006)
Career stats: 12.2 ppg 7.2 rpg 1.5 apg
One of five players to average double figures on that 2006 Final Four squad, Lewis dominated the CAA his senior year. He led the league in shooting percentage while ranking in the top-10 in points, rebounds, steals, and win shares – an analytical data point showing the value of a player towards their team winning.
