Miami Basketball: Top 10 Players to play for Head Coach Jim Larranaga
3. Will Thomas – George Mason Patriots (2005-2008)
Career stats: 11.9 ppg 7.6 rpg 1.5 apg
From a talent and production standpoint, Thomas would probably sneak into the top-five. He was a solid four-year starter, with a huge 16.1 ppg and 10.4 senior season average. Thomas rises up to No. 3 on this list because of what he did as a sophomore. The forward was the Patriots best player in their Final Four run, including 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Elite Eight win over UConn.
2. Antonio Daniels – Bowling Green State Falcons (1994-1997)
Career stats: 16.1 ppg 2.9 rpg 5.2 apg
After three really good years as a starter for Bowling Green, Daniels was arguably the best player in the country his senior year in 1997. He averaged 24.0 ppg and 6.8 apg, good for second and 10th nationally respectively. Daniels easily won the MAC Player of the Year, the last one that Larranaga had with the Falcons.
1. George Evans – George Mason Patriots (1998-2001)
Career stats: 16.8 ppg 8.2 rpg 1.9 apg
The most decorated player in George Mason Basketball history, Evans ranks first all-time in both blocks and steals, as well as in the top-15 in points, rebounds, and assists. He’s only one of two players to have three CAA Player of the Year Awards and was the clear best player in the league during his time there.

Evans was a freshman when Larranaga arrived at George Mason 20 years ago to this day. History might look very different if the two never came together, possibly including that Final Four run.
