Are there any eligible graduate transfers on the market?

This is where it would have really helped for the program to have snagged grad transfer Matt Mooney. He could have been a saving grace for the team at the position but he chose Texas Tech instead. Many of the top grad transfers this offseason are already off the market but that does not mean all options have been exhausted. There are currently no reports of current transfers being sought after by Northwestern so here are some of the best options available.

As of right now (May 28), the best guard on the grad transfer market is Tramaine Isabell, who has played at both Missouri and Drexel. While starting 20 (out of 28) games for the Dragons last season, the 6’0″ guard averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He might not be the most efficient playmaker but he has experience as a full-time starter and knows where to pass the rock. However, he is already taking visits to schools such as Seton Hall and Xavier, so it is probably too late for Northwestern to join the race.

The next candidate on the list should be Jadon Cohee from Southern Utah. Another player who is receiving high-major interest (Louisville specifically), Cohee would be a valuable addition. There has not been a ton of news regarding his offseason recruitment but could be a viable option. Last season, he averaged 12.6 points and 3.1 assists per game.

The last graduate transfer that I will mention is Jalyn Patterson. Having spent his last three seasons with LSU, this is a guard who is familiar with high-major basketball. He has averaged 20+ minutes per game in each of his last three seasons and has been rather steady. He sat out this past season to finish up his degree at LSU but is now pursuing transfer options. In 2016-17, he averaged 5.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He is not a high-volume shooter and could fit in nicely as a distributor.
