15. Demetris Nichols – Syracuse Orange (2004-2007)
Career stats: 10.9 ppg 4.1 rpg 1.1 apg
Nichols was part of the new group of Orangemen after the 2003 title team pretty much departed. After a few years of development, the 6’8 forward had a huge senior season. He averaged 18.9 ppg and 5.4 rpg to lead the team, making three long balls a night at 42%.
14. Marty Byrnes – Syracuse Orange (1975-1978)
Career stats: 11.6 ppg 6.5 rpg 1.7 apg
When Boeheim first arrived at Syracuse, Byrnes was a junior. He was part of the 26-win team in year one that went to the NCAA Tournament. The 6’7 forward then averaged 19.9 ppg and 8.4 rpg as a senior, helping start off the Boeheim regime with the Orange very well.
13. Rafael Addison – Syracuse Orange (1983-1986)
Career stats: 14.9 ppg 5.2 rpg 2.5 apg
Currently ranked as the 10th highest scorer in program history, Addison led the team in scoring for three years. He’s one of only a few Syracuse players who are in the top-30 all-time in points, rebounds and assists.
12. Jonny Flynn – Syracuse Orange (2008-2009)
Career stats: 16.6 ppg 2.7 rpg 6.0 apg
An all-time point guard for the program in just two seasons, Flynn was one of the top passers in the country at 6.7 apg in 2009. His ability to both score and distribute on offense is a trait that few Orange perimeters have shown throughout Boeheim’s tenure.
11. Preston Shumpert – Syracuse Orange (1999-2002)
Career stats: 14.2 ppg 4.4 rpg 1.4 apg
Shumpert took a giant leap in development in his final pair of seasons with Syracuse, averaging 19.5 ppg and 20.7 respectively. Those numbers easily led the teams in scoring, Those performances were good enough for All-Big East honors.
