Duke Basketball: Top 25 Players to Ever Play for Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski
25. Grayson Allen – Duke Blue Devils (2015-2018)
Career stats: 14.1 ppg 3.2 rpg 3.0 apg
He may have had an underwhelming last two seasons, but Allen’s participation on the 2015 title team combined with his 21.6 ppg effort as a sophomore the following season warrants a spot on his list. His most impressive feat could be being one of the most polarizing players to play for Duke – a hard list to be a part of.
24. Gene Banks – Duke Blue Devils (1978-1981)
Career stats: 16.8 ppg 7.9 rpg 2.9 apg
Banks was a senior when Coach K arrived, already having three great seasons under his belt. He was the leading scorer in 1978, averaging 18.5 ppg and 6.8 rpg. His departure clearly hurt Duke, as they struggled for a couple of seasons afterward.
23. Chris Duhon – Duke Blue Devils (2001-2004)
Career stats: 8.8 ppg 3.4 rpg 5.7 apg
The all-time leader in school history in steals, Duhon played a pivotal role on the 2001 title team as a freshman. A three-year starter, the 6’1 point guard is currently second all-time in assists for Duke with 819.
22. Matt Brown – Army Black Knights (1976-1979)
Career stats: 14.3 ppg 4.0 apg 3.2 apg
Many people don’t know that Coach Krzyzewski had a previous gig before Duke. He spent several years at Army, working with players like Brown. In the best years with the Knights, Brown played a big role, leading the team as a senior with 18.2 ppg.
21. Mason Plumlee – Duke Blue Devils (2010-2013)
Career stats: 9.8 ppg 7.7 rpg 1.5 apg
One of the best rebounders in recent program history, Plumlee’s offense slowly developed over time. By his senior season, the 6’10 forward averaged 17.1 ppg and 9.9 rpg on the Elite Eight team in 2013.
