Duke Basketball: Top 25 Players to Ever Play for Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski
16. Mike Dunleavy – Duke Blue Devils (2000-2002)
Career stats: 13.2 ppg 5.8 rpg 2.2 apg
One of the better shooters in recent Duke memory, Dunleavy’s 17.3 ppg his junior year helped lead the team to a 31-win season in 2002. The best memory fans will have of him will be his 21 points to lead the Blue Devils to the national title win over Arizona in 2001.
15. Thomas Hill – Duke Blue Devils (1990-1993)
Career stats: 11.3 ppg 3.5 rpg 1.3 apg
He wasn’t necessarily the star on the two title teams in the early 90s, but Thomas absolutely played a role in the Blue Devils getting to that point. The 6’5 guard was an elite defender and consistent double-digit scorer who rose to the occasion when needed.
14. Jon Scheyer – Duke Blue Devils (2007-2010)
Career stats: 14.4 ppg 3.6 rpg 3.1 apg
It’s not surprising at all that Scheyer would be considered one of the best college assistants in the game today, based on his display of leadership in his days as a player. The playmaker had a huge senior year, leading the Blue Devils to a national title in 2010. He started all 40 games that year, averaging 18.2 ppg and 4.9 apg.
13. Danny Ferry – Duke Blue Devils (1986-1989)
Career stats: 15.1 ppg 7.0 rpg 3.5 apg
The 6’10 forward had two of the best single-season performances in Duke Basketball history as an upperclassman. He won ACC Player of the Year in 1988 after averaging 19.1 ppg and 7.6 rpg, before being declared the National Player of the Year next season. Ferry averaged 22.6 ppg and 7.4 rpg in what ended up being a Final Four squad in 1989.
