Duke Basketball: Top 2019 recruiting targets for the Blue Devils
CG Cole Anthony, Archbishop Molloy
The top guard in the 2019 class, Cole Anthony would be a game-changing commitment for Duke. He is one of the most adaptable players in the class and has the ability to either be a primary playmaker for talented teammates or the go-to scorer when necessary. While several players may have versatility, not many can flip the switch from one to the other like Anthony can. He is the best player on the floor in just about every game that he plays and his talent is obvious.
Anthony has solid size for the guard position at 6-foot-2 and operates in a number of different ways. He can attack the basket, finish with either hand, dish to teammates, or pull up for jump shots. As a high school junior this past season, Anthony averaged 23.5 points per game. However, it has been his play on the Nike circuits this summer that has been turning heads everywhere. In 20 games (EYBL and Peach Jam) for PSA Cardinals, Anthony put up 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
Duke offered Anthony back on Halloween of 2017 and currently looks to be the favorite in his recruitment. The Blue Devils hold six of the seven crystal ball predictions on 247Sports at the moment with Oregon taking the other. Some of the other competition involved includes Kansas and North Carolina (among others).
