Big Ten Basketball: Updated way-too-early rankings after the NBA Draft
Nebraska missed the NCAA Tournament last season due to an overall poor strength of schedule. However, you can simply ignore the fact that the Cornhuskers finished 13-5 in the Big Ten last season. Regardless of how much other teams in the conference may have improved this offseason, the Huskers were excellent last season and the vast majority of their roster is returning. In addition to this, it is important that this team is extremely experienced. In fact, their three leading scorers from last year are all returning as seniors.
James Palmer (17.2 points), Isaac Copeland (12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds), and Glynn Watson Jr. (10.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists) will all play tremendous roles and they are all accustomed to the big stage of playing in the Big Ten. There is plenty to be excited about for Nebraska considering the return of this trio but there is more to this roster.
Rising juniors Isaiah Roby (8.7 points) and Jordy Tshimanga (4.0 points) are also coming back after starting a combined 31 games last season. They averaged over 10 minutes per game and the expectation is they should help out greatly in replacing Anton Gill and Evan Taylor. Rising sophomore Thomas Allen (3.2 points) could also play a nice reserve role as a guard behind Watson.
