Any change Georgia Tech had at improving on last year’s 13th-place finish went out the door when Josh Okogie decided to stay into the NBA Draft. It was a smart move for Okogie, who was picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 20 overall pick, but the Yellow Jackets are now left with a major talent void.

Head coach Josh Pastner’s squad lost three of their top four scorers and largely lack depth, meaning that top-50 recruit Michael Devoe and Tennessee transfer Shembari Phillips will have to be immediate impact players along with Jose Alvarado (12.1 ppg last season).

Pastner knew he was taking over a long-term rebuild when he took the Georgia Tech job in 2016, but the program took a major step backward after making the NIT finals in his first season at the helm. They’ll now have another year of rebuild as this season will be all about playing young guys and developing them.
