Tony Carr, Penn State

After leading the Penn State Nittany Lions this past season in scoring and assists per game, point guard Tony Carr looks ready to make the leap to the NBA. Carr was taken 51st overall by the New Orleans Pelicans and he holds potential as a potential steal given his body of work.

He was the first Penn State sophomore ever named to All-Big Ten first team after putting up 19.6 points, 5.0 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game in 2017-18. Penn State’s 26-13 record didn’t get them in the tournament but it did get them an NIT bid.

The Nittany Lions won the NIT Championship and Carr felt it was time to make the leap to the NBA. The 6-foot-5 guard can score the basketball in a variety of ways after shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 43.3 percent from 3-point land on 5.5 attempts per game last season.

The Pelicans certainly could use more guards with a knack for the 3-ball. They ranked 14th (36.2 percent) in the NBA last season as a team shooting the 3.
