ACC Basketball: Top 5 rising sophomores for 2018-19
2. Oshae Brissett, Syracuse
Syracuse Orange forward Oshae Brissett hit the ground running in his first season with the team. The 6-foot-8 freshman averaged 14.9 points and 8.8 rebounds as the Orange’ unsung scorer next to fellow freshman Tyus Battle.
Brissett put up 13 double-doubles in his college debut with the Orange. In his first college game, he produced 11 points and 10 rebounds despite an abysmal shooting night. As Brissett learns to shoot with volume, his shooting percentage from the floor has taken a hit. He shot 35.4 percent on 12.4 field goal attempts as a freshman.
On the bright side, he only averaged roughly 4.5 3-pointers per game, making 1.5 of those 33.1 percent shooting from 3-point range last season. Brissett showed the ability to knock down the 3-point shot last season, something Syracuse might use to their advantage in 2018-19.
Brissett has an opportunity to play a big role for the Orange next season. They’ll be loaded with scorers with Tyus Battle, Frank Howard and Brissett leading the way.
