Wichita State Basketball: Breaking down the 2018 recruiting class
SF Chance Moore – Louisville, KY
In my opinion, Chance Moore is the player with the highest upside in Wichita State’s recruiting class. When he started to garner attention as a Division-I recruit, Moore had plenty of size to play on the wing as a shooting guard at 6-foot-6. He had the right skill set to be a secondary creator and scorer within an offense while also possessing some versatile defensive skills. Well, then Moore grew three inches to 6-foot-9.
He now has enough size where he could feasibly play center in a small-ball lineup while still holding onto the skill set of a guard. In addition, we do not know if he is done growing yet. Because of this growth spurt, Moore is a matchup nightmare on the wing with his ability to attack the basket, shoot from distance, and create for others. In addition, he can defend positions 2-through-5 defensively. That kind of versatility is incredibly hard to come by and is why Wichita State is getting a steal with Moore.
Although still a relatively raw prospect, Moore has outstanding physical gifts and could be a major building block of the future for Wichita State. In eight games on the prep circuit last Spring, Moore averaged 14.9 points (48.1 FG%, 27.3% 3P, 84.1 FT%), 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
Moore’s prep school coach, Cortez Brown, had this to say about his game:
"“Chance is an offensive threat at every level of the floor. He’s very athletic and I would say he’s a prolific scorer. He’s a playmaker with the ball and he knows how to put his teammates in great situations to score. He can fill it up.”"
