Atlantic 10 Basketball: Top 5 rising juniors in 2018-19
2. Jon Axel Gudmundsson, Davidson
Davidson Wildcats guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson is becoming quite the sharpshooter. He went from making 37 3-pointers to making 63 last season as the Wildcats emerged as Atlantic 10 Tournament champions by the end of things.
Gudmundsson eclipsed the 20-point plateau in six of his 33 appearances for Davidson in 2017-18. He averaged 13.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.3 steals last season as the Wildcats finished 21-12 and 13-5 in conference play.
Gudmundsson is building quite the resume as a floor general. He still shot 40.1 percent from 3-point land and 46 percent from the field as a sophomore while also leading the team in assists per game and ranking second in points per game.
It’ll hard to foresee Gudmundsson going without earning All-Conference honors by increasing his production. He recorded two double-doubles last season as a sophomore.
