No. 50: Alan Shaw (1971-1973)

Shaw was never anything amazing, but he had quality role numbers for three seasons. He averaged a double-double in his second season and nearly averaged one for his career at 9.1 points and 8.2 boards a game over three years.

No. 51: Cy Valasek (1939-1941)

Valasek never started, but starters don’t wear 51 in college. He only got 337 total points, but he was still a Duke player for three seasons. If you can find someone who deserves it more, I’ll give it to you.

No. 52: Gene Bledsoe (1944)

Bledsoe averaged over 6.5 points a game in his only season. He’s no star. He didn’t play on an amazing team, but I’m not sure if anyone else has averaged more. Again, this just isn’t a flashy number.

No. 53: Chris Redding (1972-1974)

Here we go. Redding averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds over 78 games in his career. He never won titles or awards, but he was a solid player. His best season was in ’73 when he averaged 17 points and 6.5 boards. All in all, he was a good player for Duke. He falls away with the time, but that happens to everyone.

No. 54: J. Clyde Allen (1940-1942)

Allen averaged 7 points a game over two years of stats. All in all, not an amazing player. He’s the best I could find for this article.

No. 55: Ed Koffenberger (1946-1947)

Koffenberger averaged 13.6 points a game over two seasons. He didn’t do much, but it doesn’t take much to take the honor with this number.
