Aaron Nesmith – Charleston, SC

Guard | 6-foot-5 | 190 lbs | No. 62 overall

A steady riser in the recruiting rankings over the past year, Aaron Nesmith comes in as the lowest-rated recruit in the Vanderbilt class but he is still in the nation’s top-75. An advanced scorer with excellent size to play in the backcourt, Nesmith projects as an elite offensive player at the college level. He is a tremendous shot-creator with the ball in his hands and he can score from all three levels with relative ease.

What makes him such a versatile offensive player, though, is his ability to work off the ball. While on the offensive end of the floor, Nesmith is never disengaged when away from the ball. He is active in cutting to get open or running off of screens at just about all times. A tenacious scorer in that he will make his defender work even when he is not actively scoring, Nesmith is an awesome offensive threat.

On the other end of the floor, Nesmith has plenty of size to defend positions 1-through-3. With that kind of size and length, Nesmith has the potential to be a plus defender as well as a go-to scorer on offense. As far as what Nesmith’s role will look this season, the expectation is that he can be an immediate starter at the shooting guard position. Now that Fisher-Davis is graduating, there is a hole at that backcourt position and Nesmith will compete with rising sophomore Saben Lee to fill that role.
