Shooting Guard

Minutes Allocated (40 total): Quade Green (22) Immanuel Quickley (9), Jamarl Baker (6) and Tyler Herro (3)

Green‘s role with Kentucky in his sophomore season will be fascinating to watch. He technically was demoted but more so because of the overall team play than just himself, as his style of play wasn’t meshing with the others as well.

Now he’ll play more off the ball, where there are both positives and negatives. That gives Kentucky two good ball handlers which will help the offense. Green also shot 38% from three-point range and can spread the floor without issue. The problem will be on defense, where at 6’0 and 180-pounds makes him a liability on the defensive end. It could force the Wildcats to go zone on defense if matchup problems occur.

Still, having a talented player with actual experience in the backcourt will be a plus for the team, as both Hagans and Quickley will learn from him.

As mentioned before, Quickley will get minutes off the ball as well, along with Herro who might be the best overall shooter on the team. But don’t forget about Baker, a former top-100 prospect who couldn’t play last year. The 6’4 guard is a natural shooting guard, and Kentucky desperately needed that, ranking as one of the worst teams in terms of taking three-pointers. His shot-making ability will afford him some minutes as well.
