WCC Basketball: Top 10 Juniors for 2018-19
By Connor Hope
With so much talent gone from Saint Mary’s roster, Tanner Krebs will have a lot of chances to score this upcoming season. As a wing, Krebs can do a lot to replace Calvin Hermanson as a three-point shooter who can also finish at the rim and rack up rebounds.
With Jordan Ford taking a lot of the focus as the Gaels star, Krebs will be given some room to work and should be valuable in salvaging what could easily be a down season. Krebs’ toughness and experience will certainly allow him to continue in Saint Mary’s long line of Australian-bred talent.
One player who really hit his stride in WCC play last season was Jordan Ratinho, who struggle to find his shooting stroke in non-conference play before averaging 48.8% from deep in WCC play. Ratinho, a pure scorer for the Dons, gets the nod over Haws for his ability to score effectively from anywhere on the court.
Between Ratinho and his teammates Charles Minlend and Frankie Ferrari, San Francisco will have a team that should once again focus on scoring from deep. If Ratinho can improve his defensive skillset a bit before the season starts, he will be a valuable piece on a team that looks to be competitive in the WCC.
