7. Syracuse Orange

Location: Carrier Dome (35,446) in Syracuse, NY

The Carrier Dome is truly massive. One of the largest arenas in all of college sports, the Carrier Dome can seat well over 30,000 people for a basketball game when needed, a number that consistently puts Syracuse near the top of the attendance marks in the country by year.

The Orange have a huge fanbase and the team performs well year after year. In regards to this, it certainly helps that the program has been tremendously consistent at the top. With head coach Jim Boeheim holding down his position for the past 42 years, fans are accustomed to seeing the same system and the same coach on the sidelines. It also helps that this system has been remarkably successful.

In addition, Otto’s Army, the student section, has emerged as one of the best in the nation in recent years. This band of passionate college students fill their seats for every home game and then proceed to lose their voices over the course of the following two hours. Students are often the lifeblood of a college basketball atmosphere and Syracuse packs the Carrier Dome with plenty of them.
