Expectations for Williams in 2018-2019

With perennial MEAC power the Hampton Pirates leaving the conference for the Big South, the conference is as wide open as it may ever be. The Bison are going to be looking for more creative ways to score and get other players besides their dynamic duo involved on the offensive end of the floor. Coach Nickelberry is hoping some new guys step up to help minimize the scoring gap between their big two and everyone else. Last season the Bison had Cole and Williams who both averaged over 20 points per game. The next best player averaged 6 points per game. If Howard hopes to improve on their season from a year ago, the rest of their players will need to improve.

If the other players on the team can improve on their averages and Williams is able to repeat his performance from last year. Howard could make one of the biggest year to year leaps in recent memory. Judging by the first two years of the junior’s career trajectory, his numbers will most likely improve across the board.

It remains to be seen if Howard is going to be able to improve on their season from a year ago. The Bison had a young team last year. Williams won the freshman of the year in the conference two years ago and was First-Team All-MEAC last year. If the guard can improve on his numbers as he has each year, he is going to be a legitimate MEAC Player of the Year contender. However, he may need to beat out his teammate in RJ Cole. No matter the Bison record next year, rest assured Williams will do his part to ensure this team can win as many games as possible.
