Flynn Cameron, DePaul

PG | 6-foot-3 | 180 lbs | No. 166 overall

DePaul basketball suffered a mass exodus this offseason. Even though stars Max Strus and Eli Cain are returning for their senior seasons, just about everyone else is gone. This includes graduates Marin Maric and Tre’Darius McCallum as well as Justin Roberts, Brandon Cyrus, and Levi Cook, who all transferred out. This leaves a lot of holes on a roster that already wasn’t very talented. This is why the play of incoming recruits could be so vital to any success during this upcoming campaign.

At the forefront of this will be freshman Flynn Cameron. Similar to Marquette’s Joey Hauser, Cameron joined the team during the second semester of last year but did not play any minutes. Per 247Sports, he is still considered to be a member of the 2018 recruiting class. A top-200 recruit, Cameron’s rating does not blow the doors off but he could step in and provide a ton of minutes at the point guard position as a freshman.

The New Zealand native is a balanced guard in that he can score at all three levels and is a capable playmaker. He definitely has some polishing to do in terms of his game but should still see the floor in his first year on campus. Oh, and it helps that he is now one of my favorite names in the conference.
