Nov. 28 @ Maryland

The Cavaliers will face the Maryland Terrapins in this year’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge. It is their first meeting since Dec. 3, 2014. Virginia won that meeting 76-65 as the seventh-ranked team in the AP Poll. This time around, both teams possess new looks but should both be considered Top 25 teams in 2018-19.

The Virginia Cavaliers will visit the Maryland Terrapins on Nov. 28. The Terrapins went 19-13 last season under head coach Mark Turgeon. They missed the NCAA Tournament after making three consecutive appearances in the seasons prior. Rising junior guard Anthony Cowan Jr. will pose as a solid threat out of the backcourt for Maryland although the loss of Kevin Huerter will be felt.

The good thing for Maryland is big man Bruno Fernando is back for his sophomore season. He averaged 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game as a freshman in 30 appearances (20 starts).

Bragging rights will be on the line as ACC faces off against the Big Ten. Virginia is 12-6 and has won their four last games in the challenge.
