Luther Muhammad, G, Ohio State

2018 Ranking: 79th in 247 Composite

The first player on this list is Luther Muhammad, the talented combo-guard from New Jersey. Muhammad is known for his tenacious defense and this ability will ensure that he is a fixture in the Ohio State rotation from day one.

Muhammad is adept at attacking the basket and can also shoot from long-range. He has good size at 6’4” to play all three perimeter positions in college which will give him more opportunities for playing time. His biggest competition for playing time comes from sophomore wing Musa Jallow and freshman scoring guard Duane Washington who are both likely rotation members.

Whether he starts alongside CJ Jackson and Keyshawn Woods in a smaller lineup or occupies a key reserve role, Muhammad will make an impact in his freshmen season. Ohio State looks like a bubble team in a much-improved Big Ten conference so they need their freshmen to produce. I would think he starts the season coming off the bench, but it won’t be long until he’s a full-time starter. 20-25 minutes per game is a reasonable expectation for Muhammad’s freshman season.
