6. Marcquise Reed, Clemson
Clemson Tigers guard Marcquise Reed saw his role grow in 2017-18 as a full-time starter. Reed put up 10.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals per contest off the bench during the 2016-17 season. Last season, he put up 15.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per contest through 35 appearances, all starts.
Reed shot below 40 percent for the first time in his college career during his junior season. After shooting 40.2 percent off the bench in 2016-17, he shot just 35.4 percent from 3-point land in 2017-18. After adjusting to life in the ACC, Reed’s efficiency should return to 40 percent or above in 2018-19.
The Tigers also return guard Shelton Mitchell in the backcourt should help Reed’s confidence. Mitchell shot 39.6 percent from 3-point range last season. As their returning leading scorer, Reed’s production should increase as Clemson looks to make another NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018-19.
