5. Justin Robinson, Virginia Tech
The Virginia Tech Hokies have taken some hits off the court with the loss of assistant Steve Roccaforte and big man Khadim Sy, but the return of Justin Robinson on the court is a reason for optimism. Robinson returns after leading the Hokies in points (14.0) and assists per game (5.6) during the 2017-18 season.
He also showed off a more efficient 3-point shooting stroke that should only improve in 2018-19. Robinson shot 35.8 percent from 3-point range during the 2016-17 season. Last season, he shot 39.8 percent from behind the 3-point line.
Robinson set a new career-high in points back on Feb. 7 with 32 points against NC State in an 85-75 victory. He went 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) from the floor to lead all scorers by the end of things. Virginia Tech returns all but one starter from last year’s NCAA Tournament squad. Robinson and the return of P..J. Horne in the frontcourt will strengthen their quest for a third-straight Tournament appearance this upcoming season.
