No. 9 Jon-Axel Gudmundsson

Besides having the league’s best name, the Davidson point-guard also has one of its best strokes. Just like Stockard, JAG was overshadowed by the talent around him last season. Still, despite having to share the ball with co-Player of the Year Peyton Aldridge and potential lottery pick Kellan Grady, he made a name for himself as a consistent threat on offense.

JAG can light it up from all over (40% from deep last season), which is something America got a taste of in Davidson’s tourney game vs. Kentucky (for the record: a tight game). It’s not only his shooting that makes him dangerous either. He ran a balanced line of 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, and consistently appeared on Kenpom.com’s top 5 most efficient A10 players.

Without Aldridge, this will obviously be a very different Davidson team next season. They have question marks surrounding their depth, but they may just have the best backcourt in the league between the poise and leadership of JAG, and the pure explosive talent of Grady.
