8. Charles Matthews, Michigan

Charles Matthews played a big part in the Michigan Wolverines’ run to the NCAA championship game last season, despite the final result. His return gives them another opportunity for a run in the NCAA Tournament, so long as they adjust to the departures of Mo Wagner and Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman.

Matthews had quite the breakout junior season for Michigan in 2017-18. He returns as the Wolverines’ leading scorer after putting up 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the field. He had the ability to get to the rim whenever he wanted last season and it showed with his play in March.

He registered four double-doubles last year, including 20 points and 11 rebounds in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Montana. He recorded double figures in all but the final game of the tournament. After some offseason adjustments, Matthews should be prepared for a strong senior campaign.
