7. Anthony Cowan, Maryland

6-foot-1 point guard Anthony Cowan had a strong sophomore season with the Maryland Terrapins in 2017-18. He put up 15.8 points, 5.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in 2017-18 through 32 appearances. He shot 36.7 percent from 3-point range and 42.2 percent from the floor on his way to third-team All-Big Ten honors. Behind so many guards, Cowan still managed to gain recognition.

Cowan was a Big Ten All-Defensive team selection for his play last season. He also led the conference in minutes per game (37.0). With the loss of Kevin Huerter to the NBA, the Terrapins will look to Cowan to lighten the blow. Cowan led the team in points per game and assists per game in 2017-18.

He’ll also have big man Bruno Fernando to lean on in the frontcourt. Fernando produced 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per contest last season as a freshman.
