Joe Wieskamp, Iowa

Guard | 6-foot-6 | 190 lbs | No. 60 overall

Iowa basketball was one of the best offensive teams in the country last season. The Hawkeyes played at a fast pace, shot efficiently from beyond the arc, and had plenty of offensive balance thanks to multiple three-level scorers. Now with Joe Wieskamp added to the roster, head coach Fran McCaffery has added even more offensive firepower. A 6-foot-6 in-state wing, Wieskamp projects as an excellent scoring option in his first season at Iowa.

Wieskamp possesses a wide variety of scoring moves and has the ability to fill up the basket from all three levels. He has tremendous range on his 3-point shot and can also function as a slasher within the offense. When attacking the rack, Wieskamp can finish acrobatically on layups or play above the rim. Although mostly known as a shooter, Wieskamp has above-average athleticism and can be a serious threat in transition.

He is an extremely efficient scorer from just about anywhere on the floor and he also has the potential to be a sound defender with his size and length. Finally, if you needed any other reasons to believe in Wieskamp’s potential, here is what current Hawkeye Jordan Bohannon had to say about the addition (Land of 10):

"“He’s one of the top players in the country and every single game he’s been putting out. He’s another local kid that wanted to be a Hawkeye ever since he grew up. Obviously you have that kind of mindset, you’re not going to get rattled by what everyone says because you worked your butt off to get to your dream school. That’s what he’s been thinking. He’s a hometown kid, and we can’t wait to have him.”"
