Big Ten Basketball: Top 10 recruits joining the conference in 2018-19
Ignas Brazdeikis, Michigan
Forward | 6-foot-7 | 215 lbs | No. 40 overall
Michigan basketball is bound to have a difficult time replacing Moritz Wagner heading into this season. Yet, if any recruit is up to the challenge, Ignas Brazdeikis could be that guy even if their playing styles are quite different on film. Despite standing at 6-foot-8, Brazdeikis plays like a guard when on the floor thanks to a tight handle and the ability to consistently attack the basket. He is an incredibly versatile talent and could easily begin his college career as a member of the starting lineup for Michigan.
Although Iggy might not be a tremendous 3-point shooter at this point in time, he has a deadly pull-up mid-range jumper and a wide assortment of scoring moves from which to choose from. Even though Brazdeikis still has plenty of room for improvement defensively, he is already a polished scorer who could average 10+ points per game for the Wolverines this season.
Iggy is the crowning jewel of an excellent Michigan recruiting class and he could easily be on his way to the NBA in a few years with the right development. In my opinion, head coach John Beilein and his staff represent the elite when it comes to player development and Brazdeikis could be the next in a long line of sensational Michigan basketball players.
