Darius Allen – Palm Beach State College

Guard | 6-foot-4 | 205 lbs | NR – JUCO

Another JUCO transfer, Darius Allen represents another solid guard option for head coach Scott Drew this season. With excellent size (6-foot-4) and a couple of years of JUCO experience, Allen should fill a much-needed role this season for Baylor. Considering the Bears desperately needed to add guards this offseason, the addition of Allen, who has two years of eligibility remaining, was an excellent move by the coaching staff.

In regards to his play on the floor, Allen brings excellent athleticism and size to the guard position as a sound all-around player. Although Allen does not seem to have one particular “elite” skill, he does a lot of nice things on the floor. During this past season for Palm Beach State College, he averaged 14.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while starting in 19 of the team’s 28 games. He also posted shooting slashes of .490/.362/.698 as a well-rounded offensive threat.

Although it seems unlikely that Darius Allen will take on a starting role right away with Baylor, he should provide Coach Drew with an excellent reserve option at both the shooting guard and small forward positions. His versatility as an athlete at 6-foot-4 makes him potentially multipositional in the Big 12, something that should not be underestimated.
