5. Khavon Moore, Texas Tech

The Texas Tech Red Raiders were a surprise team in the Big 12 in 2017-18, finishing 11-7 and second in conference play a season ago. Their recent success has seen the likes of Zhaire Smith try his hand at the next level which also makes room for a new recruit to step in and contribute right away.

Khavon Moore is one player looking to play that role in 2018-19. He chose the Red Raiders over Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Providence, UCLA and USC. A highly-touted recruit, the 6-foot-8 versatile guard will be expected to contribute right away as a freshman. He’ll have Jarrett Culver (11.2 ppg)  back to bring him along.

The Red Raiders are coming off a historic season that saw them make it all the way to last year’s Elite Eight with a 27-10 record. Last year’s leading scorer Keenan Evans (17.6 ppg) will be gone as well, opening the door for those who remain and the newcomers to fill the void.
