3. Sean McDermott, Butler

Statistics: 7.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, and 1.0 apg

3P shooting: 47-for-109, 43.1%

Sean McDermott might not be the most well-known name on this list but his stock should skyrocket during this upcoming season. After mostly functioning as the third or fourth scoring option for Butler last season, the former Pendleton Heights star should emerge as one of the top offensive options this time around. With a developing game and plenty of collegiate experience at this point, McDermott might be the player poised for the biggest breakout season in the entire conference.

Although McD is an instinctive rebounder and has flashed the ability to attack the basket with some regularity, he is at his best when spotting up beyond the 3-point arc. One of the most deadly snipers in the entire conference, McDermott is someone that you do not want to leave open. Due to McDermott’s lanky 6-foot-6 frame and lightning quick release, it is nearly impossible to stop the budding star from getting his shot off. Over the course of last season, McDermott shot 43.1% from 3-point range while attempting 3.5 trifectas per game.

Due to his role on the team last season, McDermott was not a high-volume shooter from anywhere on the court. During 2018-19, though, he should attempt far more shots as a focal point of the offense. Quite simply, you will see McDermott with the ball or running off of far more screens this year.
