Big East Basketball: Top returning shooters in the conference for 2018-19
1a. Sam Hauser, Marquette
Statistics: 14.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and 2.9 apg
3P shooting: 95-for-195, 48.7%
One of the best pure shooters in the entire nation, Sam Hauser is tremendously accurate from beyond the arc. Not only does Hauser possess a 6-foot-8 frame but he also utilizes a high release point to get shots off with relative ease. With this taken into account along with his incredible marksmanship, it is more than reasonable to think that Hauser belongs near the top of the Big East in terms of the best 3-point shooters.
While many may argue back and forth regarding which Marquette player belongs at the top of this list, I think that Hauser is the best pure shooter. He might not be as tremendous off the dribble as Howard but his standstill shooting is second to none. Considering this, Hauser has a slight edge over Howard for the 1a spot in my book.
Heading into this season, it is reasonable to expect that Hauser will take the next step in his career. Now that Andrew Rowsey is no longer with the Golden Eagles, Hauser will take over as the secondary scoring option for the team. With Hauser and Howard running the show, Marquette will have one of the most potent offenses in the country from beyond the arc.
These five players will all play vital roles for their respective teams either as pure shooters or all-around scorers. When it comes to exciting play, these players will be some of the best to watch because of their abilities from deep. If one catches fire, watch out.
