NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Evaluating 5-star guard Jalen Lecque’s final 7 teams
TCU Horned Frogs
Between his early days at Pittsburgh and now as the head coach with TCU, Jamie Dixon always likes to have two competent ball handlers on the court for as much as possible. They’ll need a replacement for Alex Robinson, who is set to graduate after this season.
Jaylen Fisher will return but has been dealing with knee issues after suffering a season-ending injury last year. It’s not known how much of a toll it’ll take on him, considering that he relies on his athleticism to get to the basket. Four-star freshman point guards Kendric Davis and RJ Nembhard will be around as well but Lecque would be the guy to keep TCU in the top half of the Big 12 Conference.
Tennessee Volunteers
The Vols have been looking to shore up the depth at point guard for the last couple of years but rising juniors Lamonte’ Turner and Jordan Bone should be good enough to help the team compete for another SEC title for 2019. However, based on the recruiting of the conference overall, Tennessee has to keep up with the others to remain in viable contention.
Back to his days at Texas, Rick Barnes has shown to be a quality head coach. But he hasn’t been able yet to get that star recruit with the Vols. Lecque would be the highest profile prospect to come to Knoxville since shooting guard Robert Hubbs, a five-star player himself in 2013.
