UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos

National Rank: No. 68 overall

Head coach Joe Pasternack has done an incredible job so far in his quest to turn around the UC-Santa Barbara basketball program. Even though he has been at the helm of the program for just one year to this point, his 23-9 (11-5 Big West) was a major improvement from the year before. Additionally, Coach Pasternack has been active on the recruiting trail, securing several solid options for the future of the Gauchos.

In regards to this 2018 recruiting class, Coach Pasternack is bringing in three newcomers that, when taken together, make up the top class joining the Big West this season. Leading the way for the group will be swingman Jay Nagle. Ranked at No. 181 in the class, the 6-foot-6 Nagle represents the future of the wing for UC-Santa Barbara. This individual recruiting ranking might not seem elite on the surface but he is an elite scorer/shooter who should be one of the best players in the conference down the road.

Furthermore, two prep school teammates in Amadou Sow and Sékou Touré. Sow, 6-foot-9, projects as a strong piece in the frontcourt for the Gauchos. He is already well-built and should more than hold his own as a freshman. Touré, on the other hand, is a bouncy wing who is already a top-notch defender. Both players, although underrated by recruiting services, could be studs at the Big West level.
